Message to BCPAO Employees

As many of you know I worked for the Property Appraiser’s Office for more than 22 years. I had first started out as a file clerk and through the years I worked my way up to Systems and Special Projects Manager. I’m proud of the fact that I was able to work in or with most departments within the Brevard County Property Appraiser’s Office.

I was once asked, “Didn’t your mother every teach you that life isn’t fair?” Well I don’t remember how I responded at that moment but I do know that even thought life isn’t always fair, we should always try to treat others fairly. I pledge fairness in carrying out the responsibilities of the Office of the Property Appraiser in my dealing with the public and with each and every one of you.

One promise that I will make to you right here and now is to post all job openings to give all of you a chance for advancement.

And I can assure you that office policies will not be changed at a moments notice to accommodate the desires of a select few.

I will have a true Open Door Policy. If you feel at anytime that you need to talk to me about a problem, have a question or if you only want to say Good Morning, just come on by or stop me in the hallway.

I will be totally involved in the management of office and the production of the assessment roll. If needed, I will roll up my sleeves and work side-by-side with you to get the job done on time. You won’t find me with my feet propped up on the desk.

Furthermore, I don’t believe anyone should fear possibly losing his or her job because someone new comes onboard. When this election is over, I have no intention of relieving anyone from his or her employment with the Property Appraiser’s Office. Yes, positions may shift in order to provide a more fair, equitable and correct assessment roll for the citizens and property owners of Brevard County. But no one will become unemployed because they choose not to support me. It is your constitutional right to be able to support any candidate you may choose. All that I ask is, when the election is over, we all work together to make the Property Appraiser’s Office, our office, a better place to work.

I know that some of you would like to support me openly but may feel uncomfortable doing so and may feel that it could affect your employment. I understand your concern and only ask that you please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Penny
